Wednesday, June 4, 2014
Olmos Park Terrace is a quiet historic neighborhood located just North of Downtown San Antonio. In 1931, the original plat was designed by the Northside Improvement Company, when developer H.C.Thorman was president. Olmos Park Terrace homes that were for sale, started at a low price of $3,600. Due to the Great Depression and The Stock Market Crash of 1929, only 4 streets had been developed by 1935.The remaining 4 streets were finished by 1938. In 1937, more plans were developed to include an additional 100 home sites. The Architecture consists of traditional style and English Stone Cottages. The homes were constructed with stone veneer and reinforced concrete. Some of the homes have been converted into multi-family homes, but most remain single-family homes.
Olmos Park Terrace is located between San Pedro Ave and McCollough. Olmos Park and Olmos Basin Park are within walking distance. Olmos Park Terrace was granted historic district status by the City of San Antonio in 2007.
Olmos Park Terrace has many different styles of homes that are currently for sale at reasonable prices. The convenience to many major retail stores including North-Star Mall and the Quarry combined with the quiet suburbia feel, are just some of the qualities this neighborhood has to offer.
